High School Graduation?

I like this photograph a lot.  I think it's Mom's high school graduation picture - Blair has the original.  He sent me a great copy, if anyone wants one just let me know.  --That pendant she's wearing looks very familiar, I wonder if it was Mema's and I saw it in her jewelry.  Hmm.

I have her class ring.  It wouldn't fit my knuckly fingers, so I had it made into a pinkie ring.

Harriet, Charlie & Betty Jean

Here is another photo Nancy sent.  It shows my mother with her older siblings, Betty Jean and Charlie.  If I had to guess I would say this is maybe 1940?  I think they lived in Birmingham then but maybe they were visiting their Grandpa and Granny in Georgia.  Looks like a cornfield behind them?  Althoiugh Charlie is wearing his baseball uniform so maybe it is B'ham.

Betty Jean looks like the perfect big sis in this one.   Harriet doesn't look so thrilled to be photographed.  Is that a bow in her hair?

The Beginning

These pages are for posting pix and thoughts about my mother, Harriet Ann Brooks, who died on November 24 of 2012.  Hopefully this will inspire those of us who will attend her memorial on April 20, 2013 - the day after she would have turned 77!

Here's a pic my dear cuz Nancy sent yesterday.  It's my mom, me, and Blair, her second child.  This would have been about 1957 or 58?  I think she's standing in front of that big bluish fir at Mema & Pop's house across from the store in Danville, GA.  Kind of unusual tree for that part of the country!  You can't tell from this pic but it was a great climbing tree, except you came away covered with sticky pitch...!
